3 Ways a Virtual CIO Helps Your Business Succeed

A successful and secure company needs to make investments in technology and infrastructure, but the price can soar. Your business’s infrastructure needs regular maintenance and monitoring, and the solution is typically an in-house team of IT experts, but there is a better, more efficient way to provide your company with critical IT support. A virtual CIO, Chief Information Officer, offers the best of IT without the hefty price tag. When you utilize a virtual CIO, your business will flourish.

3 Benefits of a Virtual CIO

A virtual CIO strategy is affordable and one of the most effective ways to access the expertise of a fully staffed IT team. Discover how a virtual CIO can transform your operations.

  1. Comprehensive technology analysis

As soon as your company decides to benefit from the extensive services offered by a virtual CIO, the team gets to work to review your network. The goal of the network analysis is to identify any risks to the security system, design a comprehensive defense system that is tailored specifically for your business, make recommendations about cost-saving changes to your current system, and diagnose and evaluate your company’s complete infrastructure. The process creates a roadmap for your business’s IT, which saves you money, offers peace of mind, and keeps you in business all the time.

  1. 24/7 security, updates, and data protection

Just because the day ends for you, it doesn’t end for your IT needs. A virtual CIO provides round-the-clock security monitoring and protection, and data backup. Virtual services deliver remote monitoring and access, so you and your business can work remotely and benefit from IT services from anywhere in the world. Virtual CIO is always updating, monitoring and identifying gaps and potential threats so that your business doesn’t experience a complete system failure, devastating data loss, or security intrusion. If something does happen, the virtual CIO will have ensured all of your data was safe, so recovery is swift and downtime is nonexistent. When your business is down, so are your profits, but a virtual CIO is a great addition to your company’s continuity plan to prevent such disasters. If disaster strikes, the virtual CIO will be ready to recover without interrupting daily operations.

  1. Efficient utilization of IT budget

Your business has to watch its profit and expenses, and many times, much of what you take in is consumed by the IT, which includes hardware, software, malware, monitoring, recovery and IT services. An in-house team and dedicated room for your infrastructure eats up what is left of your budget, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Virtual CIO services assist you with evaluating your complete IT budget and system, helping you identify overlap, unnecessary expenditures, and areas where remote services will save you money. You will have a better understanding of what you have, what you need, and ways you can save money and maximize services. Virtual CIO does not charge for individual services; it is a complete package with one rate.

How Technology Helps Non-Profits

In the era of the Internet, non-profits need to be online and take advantage of the latest advances in technology, just as a business would, in order to give its recipients the best services possible. Technology helps give organizations the opportunity to reach out to, and help, more people than ever imagined in the past. These are just a few of the ways technology is helping non-profits.

Take a huge non-profit, like the Humane Society of America. It has a first-class web site with everything you need to know about their mission, and more. Website specifics that help to spread the word include:

  • Videos: Organizations use videos on their websites or a link to a YouTube Channel to illustrate their mission, who they are trying to help, how they do it and why. Here is where non-profits can tie in celebrities who are supporters of the cause, to hopefully entice new donors to join.
  • Blogs and Newsletters: Blogs allow authorities in the field share their expertise while newsletters keep supporters up to date on the organization’s progress.
  • FAQs: Having a list of FAQs is a good idea for a non-profit so any interested party can get information about the cause. A contact email should be added if there are additional questions that were not included in the FAQ section.

Online Donations

An online donation section is used by the Humane Society, Michael J Fox’s Parkinson’s site and many more. This is ideal for non-profits because it is so easy for a donor to click, and send money for support. Most sites have pre-set amounts ($25, $50, $100 etc) for selection, but there are spots available for donors to type in any amount they choose. This is such a great innovation for non-profits because it cuts down on the dependency of mail, phone and fund raisers for solicitation.

Social Media

Non-profits are jumping on the social media bandwagon like everyone else. This is an excellent platform for an organization to gain followers that will receive their mission message every time they log on. Hashtags are a great way to draw attention to a cause on Twitter or Facebook, such as the Humane Society’s recent #Spayday to bring attention to neutering animals to control the population. It is also a great way to create events and invite people, such as an animal cruelty fundraiser or a 5K where the proceeds go to the organization.

Recruiting Volunteers

With all of the above technological advances being used by non-profits, it is easier than ever to recruit volunteers. Viewing videos on the web sites and social media posts and Tweets will attract those who want to help. Email and social media also makes it simple to reach someone, and not have to meet face-to-face for an initial visit. It makes it much more efficient than having to make a ton of calls or wait for replies to mailers. With video conferencing and chats, it is possible to recruit volunteers or donors from anywhere in the world, and not have to leave your home office.

How 3D Printing Technology Could Change the World

Prepare yourself for the next Industrial Revolution. 3D printers are here and already changing
the world. The technology is going to make life as we know it unrecognizable in the next few
decades to come, the techie visionaries say it is for the better. The science behind these
machines is advancing at a rapid rate, as items from body parts to vehicles are being created
on 3D printers.

About the 3D Printer

If you’re unfamiliar with this technology, you won’t be for long. A 3D printer can create a three
dimensional object, by building it a layer at a time, until you have the item you desire. Designs
start with a digital file that instructs the printer just what to “print”. It is able to make items out
of metal, plastic, nylon and over a hundred more materials. No longer will we need to find
parts to screw together or weld to make an object. All you have to do is design it on the
computer. Experts say eventually we will be able to make anything, anywhere. If you’re not
convinced they will change the world, let us explain what is already being done with these
amazing machines.

3D Printed Cars

At the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Local Motors debuted its Strati
EV, a 3D printed car that you can drive in. The wiring, motor and suspension are plugged into
the 3D printed frame and exterior. The carbon fiber body and chassis weigh 1100 pounds.
This is only one example of how 3D printers are working in the automotive world. Oak Ridge
national Laboratory has unveiled a Cobra that was created, 3-D printed, assembled, painted
and driven in only six weeks. This is surely only the beginning for the auto industry.

3D Printed Body Parts

This is exciting for those who have lost limbs or are in need of a transplant. Currently,
prosthetic limbs are being created that are tailored to fit the individual so that symmetry is
restored to their body, as well as a sense of feeling “normal” around others. In the medical
world, organs like skin, kidneys and heart replicas are being printed. Imagine how this will
affect the life span of a human being.

3D Printed Food

England has produced the first 3D printed hamburger with a machine called “The Foodini”.
The creators claim it will change the way we prepare food in the future. Imagine having
whatever you desire created from scratch right before your eyes with only the press of a
button, and the insertion of a few food capsules containing the ingredients you need. This is
surely only the start as experts talk about replicating livestock for consumption down the road.

Keeping it Local with Less Waste

With 3D printing, there will be no need to outsource to countries like China or Indonesia. We
will be able to domestically manufacture goods easily. It will create much less waste because
of the preciseness of these printers, which will do wonders for the landfills and environment.

What do you think about 3D printers in the future? Pros? Cons? Let us know in the comment
section below!

Network Security – Network Monitoring and Proactive Maintenance

network_care_IT_ServicesProtect your Business Inside and Out

How Secure is your Network?
Are you at risk?
It’s time to get proactive.

The Internet offers significant benefits to small and medium-sized businesses, but with it comes many potent security issues.  From Malware to Data Theft, layering protection into your current IT infrastructure is becoming more and more important every day.  We can help you by reviewing your company’s needs and finding a solution that works best for your business.

Spyware, Malware, Worms… the threats are abundant.

Ever since the Internet began incorporating itself into everyone’s lives, viruses and spyware have done the same.  Today, there are hundreds of thousands of viruses, and the number keeps growing.  Viruses can cause a lot of problems for businesses, slowing workstations and networks down to a crawl, and can often be attributed to data loss.  As part of our proactive IT, we keep your antivirus licenses and definitions up to date to protect your bottom line.  Our antivirus solution has a small footprint, keeping workstation bottlenecks at a minimum.

Firewalls and Network Protection

Prevent Threats from Entering your Infrastructure

While Antivirus is vital to ensure a healthy IT infrastructure, precautions can be taken to stop viruses from entering your infrastructure in the first place.  Prevent workstation downtime and slowness issues by locking down your network behind a Firewall.  We can help pick out the best Firewall solution for your business, getting you the most for your budget.  In fact, our solutions offer enterprise-level features for a small-business price.  Stop dealing with workstation-based software firewalls that drastically slow down your end-users’ computers.  Prevent harmful intrusion issues before you have to deal with them.

Content Filtering

Protect your Users from Harmful Internet Content

Block inappropriate websites and content from entering your network. Do you have employees getting distracted at work with social networks like Facebook and Twitter?  Do you want to improve the work environment by blocking adult content that is simply not tasteful?  Our flexible content filters solutions can be set up with customized policies that keep your employees from getting distracted with sites that might keep them from doing their job, while still allowing them to search and browse the web as needed.  Content filtering works in concert with your firewall solution to block malware (which is often found on inappropriate sites anyway!) to keep your IT infrastructure safe and secure.

Mobile Office – Stay Connected from Anywhere in the World

Ymobile_office_it_servicesour Business at Your Fingertips

On the road, out of town, or at the beach;

Stay connected to your business at all times

In today’s world, running a business is more than a full time job.  Fortunately, the technology exists so you can stay connected with your business no matter where you are.  From mobile smartphones to remote access, there is a wide range of capabilities you can take advantage of, and even give your staff the luxury of as well.  Today, it’s more cost effective than ever.

Mobile Smartphones

Pocket-sized powerhouses of mobile capabilities.

The Smartphone market is booming with countless devices that make it easy for you to check email, sync your schedule, and keep track of contacts.  We can help you find the best mobile platform and device for your needs, and get you connected so no matter where you are, access to your business is at your fingertips.

Remote Access

Connect from Anywhere

For our business, Remote Access has changed the way we work for our clients.  It has increased our productivity and has saved us and our clients on travel time.  You and your staff can benefit from remote access as well; whether you have multiple locations or have staff that can work from home, we can work with you to create a secure connection so you and your end-users can easily get to the files and software they need.

Web Filtering & Firewall – Enterprise-level Security for Small Businesses

webfilter_firewall_IT_ServicesProtect your Network from Unsafe Web Content

Protect your employees and network by preventing questionable and unsafe content from entering your IT infrastructure.

Block inappropriate website content from your employees effectively without keeping your staff from the sites and services they need.  With NOMAD TECHNOLOGY GROUP’s Content Filtering Solutions, you can have precise control over the sites to which your users can go.  Group policies can keep certain employees from accessing sites like Facebook and YouTube, ensuring a more productive environment, and you can completely filter out sites that are distasteful for the work environment.  The intelligent filtering system will automatically detect inappropriate content and block it, so you don’t need to manually enter in banned sites.  Best of all, the system has a nearly non-existent footprint, unlike software filters that bog down your client workstations.  If you have an old workstation that isn’t being used, ask us about configuring it as your content filter to save you the cost of new hardware!

Enterprise-Level Strength Firewall for a Fraction of the Cost

Cost-effective solutions give you the protection you need without breaking the bank

Add an extra layer of protection to your entire network infrastructure by adding a secure Firewall solution to your business.  Block unauthorized access to your computers and network, protect data, and provide a strong first line of defense against viruses and malware.  Hardware firewalls are a comprehensible security solution that requires no interaction for your end-users (unlike typical software firewalls that only offer basic protection and are often at the will of the user to decide when to allow or disallow software to run on the workstation).  No sluggish workstations, no nagging access requests, and as always, peace of mind knowing your infrastructure is being protected and managed.

Data Backup & Disaster Recovery – Bullet-proof Data Protection

backup_recovery_it_servicesNOMAD Complete Support Backup and Business Continuity

Is your data secure?  Would it survive a disaster?
Can you afford to take a chance?

Any seasoned computer technician will tell you, there are two types of hard drives – those that have failed and those that will fail.  The only question is when.  With NOMAD Complete Support’s Backup & Disaster Recovery, you can have peace of mind knowing all of your data is continuously archived, redundant, and ready to restore at a moment’s notice, even after a major disaster.

Don’t Underestimate the Importance of your Data

Your company’s data is one of its most valuable assets.

Over 80% of businesses don’t have a reliable backup solution.  That means 80% of all businesses aren’t protecting one of their most valuable assets – their data.  Think about it, your company’s data is the culmination of your entire staff’s work over the years.  The cost of restoring data on a malfunctioning hard drive is astronomical and never guaranteed (hey, when it’s broke, it’s broke!).  We’ve all heard the horror stories; but ask yourself, how secure are your backups?

Regardless of your type of business, your data is vital. You have invaluable, irreplaceable information to which you need access at any given moment; information that is constantly being changed and updated.

Not just backup… this is Disaster Recovery

Sleep well at night knowing your data is ALWAYS safe.

Often, business owners are well aware of the fundamental necessity of data backup. If you’ve suffered from data loss, then you already know its value. Whether you use tape drives to regularly backup your server, or another type of external storage, you know that the costs of the backup device are well worth it, tenfold. However, data loss still amounts to massive downtime as you wait for the backup to be restored. Wouldn’t you rather it only took minutes away from your productivity, instead of hours or days?

Our bullet-proof system not only backs up your data every fifteen minutes, but in the event of a server malfunction, it can assume the role of that server, while still performing incremental backups. This means your network is still up while your server is being fixed and parts are being ordered. Don’t think of it as merely a data backup solution, but as a complete fail-safe for your servers. We call it the Backup/Disaster Recovery Device (BDR).  When your server is repaired or replaced, regardless of the new hardware, the BDR Device can perform a bare metal install to make your infrastructure in-house redundant once more.

To ensure that your data is protected in any disaster, the BDR encrypts and archives your data at our two off-site data centers (one on the East Coast, one on the West Coast) incrementally. This is the ultimate, iron-clad solution for data backup and disaster recovery!  Your files are always accessible at a moment’s notice, and can be restored easily.
